The Venice Bible Club

Reading the Bible in Venice

Picture
Venice has for centuries been a crossroads of Cultures and Faiths.  When Sir Henry Wotton came here, more than 400 years ago, he took with him his chaplain and, possibly without realising it, he gave birth to the first Anglican representation in town. From then on Anglicans have played a role in the life of Venice and so they do now.
The aim of this Club is that of organising those people who used to meet at the Chaplaincy House, at first and for some 5 years thanks to the efforts of Rev. John-Henry Bowden and his wife Marilyn, and read the Bible. This is indeed the only Anglican group in Venice which does so and we keep close contact with our ecumenical partners who have similar activities such as the Lutherans and the Valdensians.
If you want to know what we do or, even better, you feel you would like to take part in our meetings, please browse this website and feel free of contacting the webmaster!
